Being known as a “carnival company,” it’s not an unrealistic question. We do corporate picnics and private rentals for games, prizes, inflatables, tents, tables, and chairs all summer long. Yes, there are some weekends we are so busy that we sell out of inflatables. So, it would seem like winter is our time to breathe, right? Not so much!
We have been extremely blessed with loyal schools that run carnivals in the fall and early winter months, so we were busy with events up to the end of October, and are beginning again with Christmas parties and events. So, we still have games, prizes, and inflatables going in and out.

Of course, there’s always fundraisers like chocolate dipped pretzel rods and wooden roses ($1 retail fundraisers? Yes, please!), private bounce house rentals (got a heated garage? We’ve got a way for the kids to burn off some steam!), church youth group events (got a big gym? Think ARCHERY TAG!), and much more going on……
So, with all that in mind…. what can we do for YOU this winter to make it FUN?

Planning a successful company event was not part of the "job description", but you are now in charge of making it happen...where to start??

Here are some helpful planning tips:

1. When?  Avoid the very busy months (like June and August).  If this is a family event, there are still many school activities in early June and August is busy with festivals, church events and "Back to School" activities.  Check any commitments already on the calendar before settling on a specific day.

PS:  Consider a FALL EVENT - like mid September and early October or consider an inside event in the winter when people are ready for a "BREAK from the WINTER BLUES".  HINT:  Often, you can barter for discounts during February - March - April!

2. Where?   Will you have room at your facilities or will you need to go to a park or fairground?  Will there be tables and chairs?  Electricity?  Restrooms?  Dumpsters?

3. How Much?  ...for food? ....entertainment?  Did you know that for as little as $10/person you can add fun activities from Bouncy Fun to Sport Challenges, Games and Prizes, Sweet Treats?

4. Who? ....will make sure everything is set up on time?  ....will clean up after the picnic?

According to initial reports  a wind burst picked up the "store bought" Bounce House and whirled it into the air with 3 kids inside.  The stakes that were to hold the unit down were little stakes that can't possibly hold a unit down during a wind gust.
We are in great hopes that all of the children will recover from this incident.

How can you prevent a similar incident from happening?

Banning Bounce Houses and other inflatable FUN as suggested by some is NOT the answer!  Bounce Houses provide fun and a healthy aerobic work out for our (often inactive) kids.  But like all activities, there are some common sense rules and safety precautions that MUST be followed.

1.  RENT A HEAVY COMMERCIAL UNIT FROM A REPUTABLE COMPANY

FUN SERVICES  is one of oldest providers of FUN, renting "Moonwalks and Space Walks" as the first Bounce Houses were branded.  We carry equipment liability insurance which means all our rides are inspected, cleaned and maintained regularly.

In recent years as the popularity of inflatable bounce houses, slides and obstacle courses increased, the big box stores started to offer "light weight, cheap home versions" for BACK YARD fun.  Those units often weigh less than 100 lbs while the commercial units are made of heavy duty vinyl , weighing several hundred pounds.

Commercial units like those FUN SERVICES provides, must be staked down with 24" LONG STEEL stakes if set up on grass or secured with several cement buckets weighing 80 lbs each, making it almost impossible for a wind burst to pick up an inflatable unit like the bounce shown on TV.

Use only heavy gauge extension cords and do not exceed 50' of distance from power source.  If using a generator, be sure it provides adequate electrical amps.


2. FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED:

No shoes or eye glasses;  remove long necklaces or sharp objects.

Do not set up or operate an inflatable unit during strong winds or in rain.


3.  NEVER LEAVE THE UNIT UNATTENDED:  ALWAYS SUPERVISE CHILDREN!

Kids are kids-they get excited, but it is important to ENFORCE all rules:  No Flips or horse play


4.  BE SURE YOU HAVE HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE:
You are responsible for the safe operation of any rental equipment on your property and liable for the safety of any participants.  Going to a park or public place?  Be sure to get permission from your local government before renting a Bounce House or other inflatable structure.
