It is officially summer time in Michigan. Which means the weather can pretty much be all over the board, sometimes all in the same day.  The most important reminder about our inflatable rentals is that they can’t be used with water, this includes, rain, morning dew, sprinklers, water balloons, or anything else that will put water in or on the inflatable.  The reason we are so passionate about no water is that inflates can get moldy.  Obviously, mold is not something we want on our inflatables.  We clean each and every inflatable when it returns to us, so that the next customer has a nice shiny clean inflatable too.  If the inflatable gets wet while you have it, sometimes it’s not dry in time for the next rental customer.  They really do take that long to dry, especially if it’s humid which slows down the drying process.  Plus while we have 2 great buildings, we can’t set up every inflate we rent each weekend, inside our buildings at the same time, there simply is not enough room.  When mother nature decides to have some misty days, that means we can’t utilize our grass areas for drying either.

That being said, we are not trying to be fun killers, in fact we want you to have a good time with our rentals.  We pride ourselves on safe and clean inflatables.  This is why we ask you to call miss dig to have your yard marked so you properly stake our equipment into your yard for safe.  We use heavy duty tent stakes, they go deep so you don’t have to worry about your inflatable flying away during your backyard party.  And other than mold, you guessed it, a wet and slippery inflatable is just an accident waiting to happen. Pop up showers, are just that, it could be sunny and gorgeous then bam, raining.  In this instance, all you need to do is remove everyone from the inflate, turn the blower off, let the inflate deflate, then roll the inflate onto itself and cover with a tarp.  Then when the rain stops in ten minutes, I did mention Mother nature can be fickle, you can reinflate the fun and let the kids resume their play.  Raining the day before your event, and ground is mushy – put a tarp down under the inflate to keep the moisture off the bottom, and give the kids a dry area to leave their shoes before the fun.

The second important thing about our rentals is that some weekends we actually run out of inflatables!  So plan ahead if you don’t want to be told sorry that item is not available.  Midway Games, is the one thing that typically doesn’t run out, but certain games might run out on a big weekend.  We’ve got fun for big and small kids alike.  Got any questions about our rentals, give us a call today 269-763-9601.

March is turning out to be much more snow filled, but only on Fridays.  This is troublesome, especially as it keeps meaning snow days for schools which leads to rescheduled events.  The nice thing is our equipment gets a couple of extra hand truck rides as we load and unload trailers.  We are looking forward to warmer weather, especially as schools plan outdoor events to celebrate the end of the school year.  Not to be extra picky, but we’d prefer warmer and less rainy weather than we’ve been experiencing.  Our inflatables do not handle rain at all – they stay wet for DAYS and require extra blowers to dry them to avoid mold.  I think we can all agree unless it’s a mold used for making chocolate, it’s not particularly fun.  It’s also not good when an inflatable returns wet and is going back out in a day or two to a new customer – because that means we have to bring in extra employees to help clean.  There is a reason we have to impose extra cleaning fees for wet inflatables.  Hopefully mother nature is kind to us this spring, giving us the rain we need but not so much that it’s a wet muddy mess 24/7.  The good news is if you have a large indoor space, rain won’t have to spoil your bounce house fun.  If you have a large pole barn or other space you can use, give us a call and we can give you sizes for our inflatable equipment.

While it’s quieter here with less rentals, we’ve been hard at work updating our equipment instructions trying to make rentals as easy for you -the user as possible.  One way we’ve improved is new how to videos on our website.  View the Cotton Candy Video HERE. That is where our How to set up a Pole Tent Video is located, you can view it HERE. We are hoping to create even more videos to explain how to use our equipment or to showcase our equipment.  Some things we have are very cool, but until you see them in action they don’t appear exciting.  Not to name names, but I might be talking about you, milking cow and pirate treasure.

Midway games can be a great addition to a backyard party.  They are even fun for Birthday parties, family reunions.  They rent for only $25 each!  Easy way to add some fun or a skill game to your gathering.  Play for fun, or be competitive our games can be played either way!  

​It’s nice to see the sun so often, especially for winter here in Michigan!  The sun also should be a great reminder to plan ahead for outdoor activities, when hopefully it’ll be warmer.  Got a graduate?  Planning a reunion? If you are having a backyard movie night a popcorn machine would be a wonderful addition, the aroma of popcorn really sets the mood for a movie.  Plus, it’s just plain delicious.  In my opinion it’s hard to beat fresh popped popcorn! We use our popcorn machines on a table outside for events all the time in the warmer weather.  Only recommendations I would make is to provide sun protection to the Popcorn chef if popping outside during daylight hours.  At night, make sure the chef can see what they are doing and then put the popcorn machine inside overnight to avoid attracting critters to your salty treat.

Interested in a cool, refreshing treat for your party?  Then Sno Kones would be my recommendation – easy to make, tasty to eat and refreshing when it’s hot hot hot!  We have two flavors of syrup available for purchase, cherry or blue raspberry.  You provide the ice, we store bags of ice inside a cooler during event so prevent melting before we are ready to make the sno kones.  Again be kind to the sno kone chef, and provide shelter from the sun during the day for their benefit and to slow down melting.

Our last concession is Cotton Candy a whimsical sugar treat.  We provide a cone tray, so you can have some prepared ahead of time for guests or make them as needed.  We sell two flavors, Boo Berry and Cherry Berry.  Cotton Candy is another treat that smells amazing while you being prepared.   Shade works best for this concession as well to help the sugar spin into the fluffy web we all know and love that is Cotton Candy.

​Often times we get calls for tents, tables, chairs, and bounce houses.  But what most people don’t know is we have some amazing and fun inflatables and games  that are often ignored for the “normal” attractions.  We have an inflatable money machine, now granted we do NOT provide the cash, but you could!  In fact, you could use play money, coupons or anything light and safe enough to float around the Money Machine and be grabbed by patrons or guests alike. July 12, 2022 – Cow Appreciation Day!
It seems like it’s always national something or other day lately.  Cow Appreciation day can be credited to a certain fast food chain, that encourages patrons to dress up like cows, and have cute commercials where the cows encourage us to “eat more chicken.”

Here at Fun Services we have a fun unique cow rental item – a Milking Cow!  This item is a hit with children!  Our Milking Cow is a great stand alone rental, or goes with other activities you create, or other farm items we have, such as the carnival game- milk can toss.

We are in the home stretch for end of the year carnivals, it’s the middle of the season for Graduation open house rentals, and it’s the beginning of Company Picnic season.  After 2 years of non regular business, it’s amazing to see our warehouse so full of activity!  It’s extra nice that business allowed us to host a crew training for our new teenage help so they could learn what they will be doing before they are out on an event.

Weather has been strange, if you ask me.  Rainy, Sunny, Windy, sometimes all in the same hour.  That being said, don’t forget our inflatables are not intended for wet use.  This also includes leaving them up overnight, as dew occurs as the temperature rises and falls.  We don’t say this to be mean, but to keep our equipment in awesome condition, and moisture=mold and moldly inflatables would not be fun for anyone!

If you’ve already rented your tent, tables, and chairs, and the big party date is approaching, I’d recommend adding a chill table to your order.  I often explain the chill table as a cooler on legs without a lid, that can hold a TON of beverages, cold dishes, or whatever you want to stay cold during your party.    It has a drain in the middle, so simple place a bucket under the table, and you’ll never have watery ice, just wonderfully chilled beverages and food. We recently used one at my son’s open house and it was awesome, the water was ice cold within an hour! We are busy enough that if you call today and ask for an inflatable between now and the fourth of July, odds are good you will hear the words: sorry, we are all sold out. This means that if you are reading this in 2022 and will have a party in 2023 remember to plan ahead! We have one weekend in June that every table, chair and tent was rented since late April!  Which is great for us, not great for anyone needing anything at the last minute.

The first four months of 2022 have flown by. If you have a child graduating you know this even more then others.  Because May is typically when your high school student will have a list of lasts, be it sporting event, day of school, band concert, or prom.  If you haven’t already booked your tent, tables and chairs for the big post-graduation party – now is the TIME.  Our family owned and operated business is already sold out of customer pick up items on select dates.  If you have the preliminaries booked, it’s now a great time to add on some fun, be it a bounce house for the younger attendees, cotton candy, or popcorn for some yummy fresh treats, or maybe a carnival game or two, we also have corn hole.  A great often overlooked item we have is a rentable chill table – it’s essentially a standing cooler (with no lid) great for a buffet of cold foods, or keep your beverages icy cold. 

You of course don’t need to have a graduate for a reason to throw a party, rent a bounce house and keep the children entertained, plus let them burn off some of that end of the school year energy, you know the energy that comes with the extra treats they seem to get a school in the last few weeks.  Got a child with a winter birthday?  Let them have a weekend party of fun since odds are good, unless they went sledding, they didn’t have a big birthday bash.   Or have a family get together and rent a popcorn or cotton candy machine and serve up tasty treats.  It’s hard to beat freshly made popcorn or cotton candy, the smell alone will make you want some, even if you are not hungry.

​What a great Santa’s Secret Shop®/Holiday Gift Shop® Season!  It was great to see so many in person gift shops up and running in our great state.  We know the children were having fun as one night our elves were busy packing 33 reorders.  We have a crew of outstanding Santa Drivers.  We are thankful for every driver, they get up super early so we can do our best to get all the reorders to each school before their shop opens.  Huge Thanks to the Elves who spent their weekends packing our shops, we appreciate all you do for the children!
We know Schools have a choice when choosing their Holiday Gift Shop.  We are grateful so many of you chose us – the local difference for your in school shops!  We are the original in school shop, and the fact we are still here – says something about our commitment to the program.  We have great staff who care about the schools we serve and the children who shop.
